Dave Kanicki is the former Editor/Publisher (retired in 2020) Editor & Publisher of Ag Equipment Intelligence (AEI) and its related research, reports and broadcast channels. He joined Lessiter Publications in 2005 after decades of experience as an Editor & Publisher of metals manufacturing titles. His Farm Equipment and AEI work has been nationally recognized by both trade business and business press associations. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University.

As he joined in on our conversation it was clear he was a loyal John Deere customer, but he was also a good friend of the owner of the Case IH dealership. He said, “I just came from my dealer down the road and you know what? They don’t have a quart of green paint in that store. They told me they could have it for me by tomorrow. Can you believe that?”

Deere Turf Dealers Down by 66% Since 2000

There’s little doubt that there fewer farm equipment dealers than there were a decade ago, but, in the case of John Deere dealer locations, the change isn’t as significant as you might think. The biggest reduction in Deere dealers has come in the retail locations handling the company’s turf equipment.
