Farm Equipment editors encounter a variety of articles, social media posts, podcasts and videos that offer a unique look at various aspects of our great farm machinery industry. Here is our favorite content from the past week from across the web:

Detailed Look Inside Bazooka Farmstar’s Expansion

We love plant tours, but we’re often asked to keep our camera bags zipped up for “proprietary reasons.” Articles that go deep inside ag OEMs are hard to come by, so we were pleased to see a specialty ag equipment maker getting its due for excellence in manufacturing-related B2B media. This article provides an unusually detailed examination of Bazooka Farmstar’s operations — from a manufacturing perspective. Below is its new 37,000 sq ft addition.

Who Needs the Oscars Anyway? Let’s Talk Farm Machinery on the Big Screen

This timeless, entertaining interview from Machinery Pete features dealership equipment remarketer Aaron Fintel and his savant-like recall of farm machinery in major motion picture scenes. If you are struggling to remember which tractor Renn McCormick (Kevin Bacon) “operated” in Footloose, Aaron’s got you covered. You’ll pick up some new selections for your weekend watch list, too.

If Facility Modernizations Were This Easy

Our most recent Farm Equipment edition was our annual "Dealer Modernization & Expansion" issue, which included in-depth looks at 2 recently-completed facilities. And then we saw this simulated video design, with a Platte Valley Equipment sign on the building. We’re left wondering if the iterative facility design process is this swift, or this much fun. Constructive Criticism: 1) you went way too small on the shop  — you’ll want to add on within months. 2) Your John Deere TM will have words with you for ignoring Dealer Standards. 3) And there’s WAY too much landscaping to attend to. There’s a labor shortage don’t ya know?

‘Getting Ink Done’ — Brand Loyalty 2.0

John Deere’s The Furrow magazine provides one farm manager’s answer to the state of brand loyalty in this story about a very personal connection (and obsession) with Deere. It took 74 hours in the chair over 2 years to complete this personal ode to Big Green, which includes an articulated tractor to cover up the “foolish” Motley Crue tat he got when he was 18.

Just-in-Time Drone Deliveries  — They’re Heeeere

Check out this quick video on autonomous drones that can deliver payloads up to 500 pounds and at distances up to 399 miles away. How great would it be to receive shipments from your OEM’s parts depot to your store this way? It could be coming your way, particularly if OEMs want to slow down the talk of how additive manufacturing (3D printing) could eat into their cash-cow parts business. And not to get ahead of ourselves, but consider the day you can drone-deliver parts to that customer’s farm 100 miles away for same day service...
