360 Yield Center Introduces the New UNDERCOVER 120

Farm Equipment editors met up with Ron Lloyd, an agronomy and field research lead at 360 Yield Center, at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. He discussed some current products including the 360 Y DROP and the 360 Undercover. Ron also introduced a new product, the Undercover 120, which is currently a prototype to be on the market next season.

Farm equipment manufacturers are responding to and, in some cases, anticipating farmers’ needs in designing new products. This was evident in the many new developments rolled out during the 2016 Farm Progress Show.
Not only did Farm Equipment editors carry out their traditional duties of digging for the newest and most innovative products at this year’s Farm Progress Show, but this time we dug a little deeper. Getting to the Plant’s Roots

Research at Oklahoma State University on nitrogen uptake in corn has shown that almost two-thirds of the nitrogen is taken up within 7 inches of the plant, according to Ron Lloyd, director of agronomy for 360 Yield Center, Morton, Ill. In corn, he says, “We know that most corn roots are within 4-6 inches horizontally of the stalk.”
