Agriculture is an ever-changing, fast-paced and demanding arena. Its players include some of the largest equipment manufacturers in the country alongside small-town dealerships fueled by a workforce challenged by change in the labor force, those they service and those performing the service.
While economic headwinds and volatile business conditions can mean tough roads, wins and success stories continue to emerge, not the least of which are the initiatives to harness the next generation of ag employees in meaningful and satisfying careers.
According to USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the greatest technology push in ag has been in precision. It adds that while a large number of producers report plans to eventually adopt precision technology, implementation by the ag community has been inconsistent across commodities. In anticipation of continued growth, and interest by a new generation seeking careers that combine technology and agriculture, a growing number of universities are developing new curriculum in concert with professional associations around the globe to fill the pipeline of the future precision and digital ag workforce.
This Special Report focuses on offering a comprehensive and current compilation of resources to help the equipment business — and precision talent — achieve their respective goals. In so doing, it also intended to showcase the efforts of regional educational institutions, ag leaders and industry associations to secure a strong future for the industry at large.
