Looking Back: Digital Communications Changed the Course of OEMs Working With Dealers

Reflecting on the last 55 years of Farm Equipment history, Tom Taylor, recently retired farm equipment executive, writes, “A defining moment came at different times for different businesses, but it eventually came to everyone and then it was adopted quickly. I remember that moment at which digital communication started to take the place of phone calls and snail-mail in our contacts between dealers, manufacturers and retail customers."

Our good friend and “retired” Ohio State University Ag Engineer Randall Reeder has been assisting us with an array of technology and history projects for years. SNP Welcomes New Class to Its Career Academy

Dealership of the Year alum Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners started the SNP Career Academy in 2022 in response to the industry-wide technician shortage. “And it’s more than training: this is a tech college. This is not to replace but to augment the work we’re doing with the John Deere tech training program as well as the state of Missouri. We bought a facility with about 10,000 square feet for our hands-on training space and about 5,000 feet for the classroom,” SNP CEO Ted Briscoe said in an interview with Farm Equipment earlier this year.

Check out this fast-paced PBS TV spot from the American Foundry Society and the Foundry Educational Foundation.

Product Video of the Week: Vulcan Introduces New 24-Row Strip-Till Toolbar

Vulcan Equipment showcased its new 24-row strip-till toolbar, which can be set up to apply liquid or dry fertilizer. “In the past we only sold a lot of individual row units, and people had to build their own bar if they were looking for narrow transport. So, this is new for us and we’re very excited about it,” says Don Slagel, vice president of Vulcan Equipment.
