Pass-Along Content for Your Customers

With harvest out of the way in many areas, you may get called to the kitchen table a little earlier this year. Here’s a quick primer you may want to share with your customers on Section 179 and Bonus Depreciation as they prepare for year-end buying.

If you’re planning to buy farm equipment before the end of the year, here’s a refresher on two tax tools you can use.

Turning Precision Data into Art

Nathan Faleide has spent about 20 years in agribusinesses, helping farmers use aerial and satellite imagery in precision farming. Now, he’s started “Boundri,” a business that prints those images on novelty items including travel mugs, play rugs and functional or wall hangings, based on views of farmland anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

Nathan Faleide’s wife, Rachel, and their daughters, Holly, left, and Olive, play with 1/64-scale farm equipment toys on Boundri's play rugs. The rugs can be custom-made for site-specific farms.

Forever Young: Forgotten Farmer Rebels Crossed US in Epic 1969 Tractor Drive

Almost a decade prior to more high-profile tractor protests of the 1970s, 26 Midwestern farmers slipped almost entirely under the media’s eye and drove open-cab tractors from central Illinois to Capitol Hill in Washington, aiming to rattle the cages of career politicians and remind the government about the struggles of farm country. Among those farmers was Jim Campbell (red shirt, second row), who had also been a farm equipment dealer and later sold his dealership to Birkey’s Farm Stores. His sons, Quint and Scot Campbell, still work for the Case IH dealership group today.

Tasmanian Case IH Dealer Preps Tractors for Antarctica

It’s been a journey 2 years in the making, but 3 tractors are preparing to embark for a unique new home, far from the Australian paddocks in which they’re usually seen. Three Case IH Steiger Quadtrac 500s are currently in Tasmania, undergoing final preparations for their trip next month to Antarctica, where they’ll be used to support the Australian Antarctic Division’s (AAD) aviation operations at Wilkins Blue Ice Runway, 70 km inland from Casey Station, and also at the Casey Ski Landing Area, 15 km from the station.

This Land Hasn't Been Farmed In 30+ Years! Time For BIG BUD Iron!

Welker Farms picked up 500 new acres, and it hasn’t been farmed in over 30 years. The land had been part of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), and so the Welkers are bringing out Big Bud to work the land. While they are no-tillers, cultivation is needed in order to prep the soil and get it ready for farming once again.
