In this latest episode of our podcast series “Our Dealer Story,” I sat down with Larry Krystowski, second generation owner of Krystowski Tractor, during a break at the United Equipment Dealers Assn. Annual Convention in Louisville.

The single-store New Holland and Kubota dealership in Wellington, Ohio, has been in business for 54 years. Larry’s parents, Ed and Agnes Krystowski, who were farmers at the time opened the dealership in 1967 when the dealer they had been purchasing their equipment for decided to exit the business. Larry has been part of the business from the start, working as the parts manager while still in high school. His brother Ed, was also part of the original staff in the service department.

Larry and Ed were incredibly close as both brothers and business partners. In late 2018, Larry and the business faced their biggest challenge yet when Ed died unexpectedly. But, everyone in the dealership pulled together and Kyrstowski Tractor’s had its highest gross sales in its history in 2019.

“It showed how much they loved my brother and respected him and how much. They loved our business, our family business. We are a family business … I still say family business because we are, we are family,” says Larry when recalling how three employees unbeknownst to him came into the store the day after Ed passed away to start calling customers to let them know what happened.
