In this latest episode of our podcast series “Our Dealer Story,” brought to you by HBS Systems, we feature Salem Farm Supply (2015 Farm Equipment Dealership of the Year), an Upstate New York Case IH and Kubota dealer.

Founded in 1953, the Lewis family bought the dealership in 1988. Carole Lewis had plans to attend law school, but at the request of her father Philip she came to work at the dealership for one year. During that year, her father became ill and died unexpectedly, leaving the 22 year old in charge of the dealership.

In the last 6 years, the dealership has grown to include a second location.

Reflecting on the motivation of the entire dealership to keep the business going, Carole says,"I think if the shoe was on the other foot and suddenly I had a 22 year old running [a dealership], I don't know how I would react. Looking back, it's just an amazing scenario that the staff at the dealership seemed to be 100% full support."
