USDA reported on June 9 that 87% of U.S. soybeans have been planted so far in the 18 states that planted 95% of 2013 soybean acreage. This compares with 78% a week earlier and 69% last year on June 8. The 5-year average by this date is 81%.

USDA also reported that 71% of soybeans had emerged as of June 8 vs. 46% for this date last year and 50% last week. The 5-year average is 62% emerged by this time.

With 92% of corn emerged, the ag agency reports that 15% is in “excellent” condition, 60% in “good” condition and 21% in “fair” condition. This compares with 10% in “excellent” condition, 53% in “good” condition and 29% in “fair” condition last year at this time.
