USDA is reporting that, with 91% of U.S. corn acres emerged, 75% of those acres are in “excellent” (15%) or “good” (60%) condition through June 7. The rate of emergence is on par with last year (90%) and the 5-year average (90%).

The ag agency also reported that 79% of soybean acres are planted. This is somewhat behind the pace set last year (86%) and the 5-year average (81%) for this date. About 64% of soybean acres are emerged. According to USDA, this compares with 68% emerged on June 7 of last year and the 5-year average of 63%.

Some 62% of soybeans are rated as being in “good” condition, 12% in “excellent” condition, and 22% in “fair” condition.
