Yesterday, USDA reported that 92% of U.S. soybeans have been planted so far in the 18 states that accounted for 95% of 2013 soybean acreage. This compares with 87% a week earlier and 83% last year on June 15. The 5-year average for this date is 90%.

The USDA indicated that 83% of soybeans had emerged vs. 63% for this date last year and 71% last week. The 5-year average is 77% of soybeans emerged by this date.

While 73% of soybeans are rated as in “good” or “excellent” condition, some concern is cropping up with the heavy rains that deluged parts of the U.S. last week and are expected to continue through much of this week.

With 97% of corn emerged, USDA reports that 76% is in “good” (59%) or “excellent” (17%) condition.
