In 1966, Versatile was the first company to mass-produce articulated 4WD tractors. In 1967, Versatile established a partnership with Cummins in which all Versatile equipment would be available with Cummins engines. In 2017, just a little over 50 years later, that partnership is still going strong with the renewal of the companies’ long-term engine supply agreement in 2015.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier 4 emissions standards for off-road vehicles — phased in from 2008 through 2015 — introduced substantial reductions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matter (PM). The highest level of regulations, referred to as Tier 4 Final for engines over 751 horsepower (560 kW) took effect Jan. 1, 2015. The regulations reduce particulate matter (PM) by 80% and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) by 45% compared with Tier 2 engines produced in 2006.
In 2016, Equipment Technologies announced four new models in its Apache 30 Series self-propelled sprayers line. With Cummins QSB6.7 Tier 4 Final engines powering all four models, these sprayers boast greater horsepower while consuming less fuel and providing a steadier ride than previous models.
