Eric grew up on a corn, soybean and wheat farm in Pratt, Kan. Early in his career he managed communications and marketing efforts for two of the world’s largest crop consulting firms. In 2000, he joined John Deere as a copywriter working in their in-house advertising agency. In 2009, he became Editor of The Furrow and Homestead magazines at John Deere. After moving back to Kansas City in 2017 he went to work for a marketing agency and retired from Mod Op in 2025 and started Green Light, LLC, to focus on writing ag-related stories.
