Howard Kuhns, owner of Kuhns Equipment, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026. 

Howard was born August 15,1952 to the late Abe and Lovina (Kaufman) Kuhns. He married wife Edith Miller on March 3, 1973. 

In January 2024, Howard’s life was altered by a series of strokes, leaving him in the care of his wife and family. 

At age 15 Howard became involved in his dad’s business, Kuhns Equipment. He started out as a partsman and made his way to general manager and owner. He took pride in serving farmers, working alongside family and creating a workplace where all employees felt valued. He was never above pitching in himself, often grabbing a broom to help keep the shop clean while also enjoying the movement. 

In addition to his wife Edith, Howard is survived by his eight children: Brenda Kuhns of Arthur, IL; Tim Kuhns & wife Joan of Arcola, IL; Ben Kuhns & wife Amanda of Arcola, IL; Vernon Kuhns & wife Christina of Lovington, IL; Monica Swenny & husband Roger of Pana, IL; Audrey Kreider & husband Dan of Arcola, IL; Adrian Kuhns & wife Kara of Columbus, OH; and Anthony Kuhns & wife Claire of Sibley, IL; and 18 grandchildren.

Outside of work, Howard is remembered for his devotion and love for his Lord & Savior. Howard was a member at Pleasant View Church and was ordained as a minister in 1980. He preached many sermons for 42 years and served as Bishop for 31 of those years.
