Best of the Web This Week is brought to you by CLEANFIX.
Proven in the most demanding of ag conditions, CLEANFIX reversible fans provide the most efficient diesel engine cooling and radiator cleaning available. The multi-patented reversing fan technology maintains machine cooling as needed and, when required, provides the strongest blowout of dust and debris -- without halting or slowing operations.
Hacker Jailbreaks John Deere Tractor & Installs Doom
An Australian hacker known as Sick Codes has managed to jailbreak — the process of exploiting the flaws of a locked-down electronic device to install software other than what the manufacturer has made available for that device — a John Deere tractor. And as is apparently the thing to do when you jailbreak something, he installed the first-person shooter video game Doom.
Independent Dealer & OEM Team Up for Customers' Gain
As we put the finishing touches on the annual SHORTLINE EQUIPMENT edition, Yetter’s Andy Thompson and Pete Youngblut, owner of Youngblut Ag, describe how a shortline manufacturer and shortline dealer work together to get the job done. Youngblut says making a new sale is the byproduct, not the objective, of working together on systems and solutions that the customers most value.
50 Years Later … Oldest Operating Grain Cart
It’s been 50 years since Jon Kinzenbaw produced Kinze Manufacturing’s first 2-wheel grain carts. After building a prototype in 1971, Kinzenbaw manufactured the first production run of eight, 400-bushel grain carts and quickly sold them all. This 8-minute video explains the history of the unit along with interviews with farmers who are still using it to speed up their harvests today.
