Antique Tractor in Illinois Shatters World Record, Sells for $1.47 Million

On April 21, 2022, Aumann Auctions Inc. sold a 109 year old Case Tractor for $1,470,000.00, breaking the world record price for an antique tractor. This price range might be common for the vintage car hobby, but it breaks the 2019 world record of $535,000, for the antique tractor hobby by almost triple. Ironically, that last record was also held by Aumann Auctions.

Kurt Aumann, auctioneer and owner of Aumann Auctions, says, “The 1913 Case 30-60 is one of only 5 known of the original 500 built to still exist and the first model of gasoline tractor built by the J. I. Case Company.  The other 4 are tied up in private and museum collections and this one will be carefully delivered to a private collection in the North East.”

Amazing Manufacturer Anniversary Stories? Take a Look at Kinze’s Book

With several farm equipment manufacturers (including Massey Ferguson and Kubota) reaching milestone years in 2022, we were asked for our advice on how to best leverage an anniversary story. Kinze Manufacturing topped the list for its impressive book by founder Jon Kinzenbaw, 50 Years of Disruptive Innovation, which marked the company’s half-century in 2015. This 9-min. video is good as history videos go, but the book is required reading for  every true farm equipment pro. Our favorite chapter was a deep-dive into the then small manufacturer’s “David vs. Goliath” victory in the courtroom over John Deere.

Dealer Training: You’ve Come a Long Way Baby

In this year’s search to mark the 60th anniversary of commercial no-tillage, our colleagues on No-Till Farmer uncovered this narrated dealer training Demo Pak Tape on the first commercially successful planter for no-tillage. The Allis-Chalmers No-Til fluted coulter planting system was released in the late 1960s based on concepts seen on the pioneering Harry Young farm in Kentucky. No-till planters — and video production technology have come a long way in 50 years.

Deere Has Fun with Tweets About Partnership with Busch Light

Busch Light and John Deere are joining forces this season to benefit Farm Rescue, a non-profit that provides immediate aid to farmers who have experienced hardship. Deere has some fun and asks that you find another way to describe a 24-pack of beer other than calling it a case.
