In this latest episode of our podcast series “Our Dealer Story”, features BTI, a 6-store John Deere dealership based in Bucklin, Kan.

Lynn Woolf, managing editor of Rural Lifestyle Dealer, sat down with third generation owners Mike and Kelly Estes. Founded by their grandfather, Ralph Estes, in 1944 this year marks the 75th anniversary of BTI.

In that time, the dealership hasn’t been without its hardships and in 2007, was hit by a devastating tornado that left the dealership — and the community as a whole — in need of healing. The Estes family made the decision to rebuild the Greensburg.

In reflecting on the recovery process, Mike Estes says, “Wow that was such a devastating deal without the family to back up and do the things that needed to be done to rebuild that dealership, and as Kelly mentioned, the community in a real sense I don’t know that it could’ve been done. I think we were really blessed by that whole situation.”
