Penta Equipment introduced the new Lightning series high speed disc at the 2017 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky. The new unit, which places the company in a new segment of tillage offerings, was designed to combine speed and force with each pass so famers can decisively manage the residue associated with cover crops, residue and stubble.

The first row of discs provide superior mulching while the second row turns the residue and incorporates it back into the soil, leveling the field and improving the soil quality and health. All models are hydraulically folded for road travel, making field-to-field set up simple.

Available in sizes from 13-40 feet, the Penta Lightning offers superior residue management and seedbed leveling. Twenty-four inch discs on heavy-duty forged arms allow for excellent trash flow. The robust solid rubber suspension allows impressive working speeds of 8-10 mph, and outstanding damage prevention for rocks, the company says. A 12-15 horsepower is recommended per foot required at the recommended 3-4-inch depth. The mechanical stops are tool-free and adjustable to quickly and easily set up the disc to match unique residue and soil conditions.

Cage rollers or solid disc rollers are also available as finishing options.
