Joy Global Inc. said Thursday that Randal Baker, the former chief executive officer of CNH Global NV's Case IH brand, has been hired as president and chief operating officer of its surface mining equipment business, P&H Mining Equipment, and executive vice president of Joy Global Inc.

Baker will join Joy Global and P&H Mining November 30, Joy Global said in a press release.

Baker served as president and CEO of the agricultural equipment business at CNH Global, a Burr Ridge, Ill.-manufacturer of construction and agricultural equipment. Case IH is a brand of CNH Global, which was created with the 1999 merger of Racine-based Case Corp. and Amsterdam-based New Holland NV.

Prior to joining CNH, Baker spent 14 years in a series of progressively senior leadership roles in the mining equipment industry, which included management positions with Tamrock Corp., the construction and mining division of Ingersoll-Rand, and Komatsu. At Komatsu, he was vice president and general manager of the mining division.

“Randy brings us a tremendous balance of industry experience, global business leadership and drive for performance,” said Mike Sutherlin, president and CEO of Joy Global. “I know he will make a quick start and have a long term-impact on our business."

Earlier this week, CNH Global announced that Andreas Klauser, head of the Case IH Agricultural Equipment business in Europe, will replace Baker, also effective Nov. 30.
