Tom Wood, Store Manager of the Berlin, Vt., location at Champlain Valley Equipment (headquartered in Middlebury, Vt.), explains why internal communication is so important for employees during a dealership acquisition. In October 2012, Champlain Valley Equipment acquired their Berlin location, which had been known as Riverside Equipment. As a salesman for Riverside at the time of the acquisition, who often filled the role of store manager while the owners were traveling, Wood became the de facto store manager.
