Compared to a week ago, the condition of both corn and soybeans improved a little vs. a week earlier.

Yesterday, USDA reported 64% of the corn crop is in “good” or “excellent” condition, one percentage point better than last week, and better than last year’s 23%. About 86% of the corn crop is silking, marginally behind the 89% pace averaged over the last 5 years.

USDA also reported 64% of the soybean crop is in “good” or “excellent” condition, compared to last week’s report of 63% and last year’s 29%. About 79% of the soybean crop is blooming, behind the 85% pace averaged over the last 5 five years and last year’s 93%.
