Carey L. Vanderloop, 59, third-generation co-owner of Vanderloop Equipment, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Vanderloop was born on September 12, 1966, to parents Char and Dennis Vanderloop.

Carrying forward a proud family legacy, Vanderloop helped shape the future of Vanderloop Equipment. He was widely recognized as an innovator and visionary who sought emerging solutions that would benefit not only his customers but the agriculture industry as a whole.

Vanderloop was interviewed for Farm Equipment’s 2024 Dealership Minds issue for the article, “Guiding Sales, Finding New Markets.”

During the interview, Vanderloop emphasized the importance of maintaining close relationships with customers. Although his role had evolved over more than 30 years with the dealership, he continued to work directly with a group of long-term customers, many of whom had been with the dealership for 20-25 years. He maintained the client list as a way to stay connected with customers.

“I’m not going to be the guy who sits in the office completely disconnected from the outside world,” he said. “I also need to be there when the customer is upset … and to be able to deal with the service department or parts department so I don’t lose touch with reality.”

Vanderloop was also known for his forward-thinking approach and his willingness to embrace new ideas. At the time of the interview, the dealership had recently begun selling Horsch equipment, including the German manufacturer’s line of sprayers. He expressed confidence that the dealership would exceed expectations.

“We’re pretty new to the sprayer business, but I love it,” he said. “We are going to be the king of sprayers.”
