In today’s episode of Farm Equipment’s Used Equipment Remarketing Roadmaps podcast, host Casey Seymour of Moving Iron LLC sits down with Kirk Frankish of Pattison Ag, a 19-store John Deere dealership based in Saskatchewan.
Casey and Kirk talk about Canada’s current trade challenges with China, who has stopped buying Canadian canola seeds, and how that is impacting the machinery business. According to CBC, about 40% of Canada’s canola seed exports last year went to China — worth about $2.7 billion. Canada also sent about $1 billion worth of canola oil to China last year.
Additionally, the two discuss the tractor and air drill market and other challenges that lay ahead in 2019 for Canadian farm equipment dealerships.
