Kuhn Krause Introduces New Cover Crop Seeder

Adding to its line of tillage tools, Kuhn Krause launched its CCX 9000 pneumatic cover crop seeder for use with the company’s Excelerator vertical tillage tools, available in 11- 14- 20- and 25 foot widths. Product Manager Peter Goodge offers an overview of the system, where seed is fed from a 21 cubic foot hopper into an electric drive metering unit that uses a speed signal sent from the tractor and controlled by a Quantron controller for consistent application rate, regardless of speed variation.

New Cover Crop Seeders Invite Dealer Expertise

Recent research by the Conservation Tillage Information Center shows American farmers are beginning to use cover crops in their rotations to conserve moisture, boost yields of subsequent cash crops, fight erosion and add organic matter to their farm fields. With estimates predicting 20 million acres of U.S. cropland to be seeded to cover crops by 2020, the trend amounts to a significant new agronomic enterprise in many areas, even if cover crops are not considered a cash crop.
