Planalytic’s October 5 “AgriBusiness Barometer” reports that over the past several days, temperatures dropped down into the 27-32 degree range across large portions of the Midwest, thus officially ending the 2010 growing season, according to Planalytics’ Biweekly report of the weather’s impact on agriculture.

This year’s first freeze across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and Nebraska occurred within 5 days either side of the average first freeze date typical for these states.  For the Dakotas, it was later than usual. The bottom line is this year’s corn and soybean crops were so far advanced or early that the freeze had no negative impact on the 2010 crops.
