Millennial Farmer says AI is Next Big Thing in Agriculture
Minnesota farmer Zach Johnson, who has amassed more than 1 million followers under the YouTube channel “Millenial Farmer,” participated in an AI in ag panel at Minnesota’s Farmfest. Other panelists included Ken O’Brien, agronomy innovation leader for Corteva Agriscience and Don Scribner, product director for TerraClear. “The way I think of AI right now, and what’s happened just in the last couple of years with AI is kind of how the internet was for me 20-25 years ago,” Johnson says. Check out more highlights from the panel in this story from KTTC News.
Are Tier IV Diesel Engines Doomed? EPA Announcement Impact on Trucks & Tractors
In this video, Tractor Mike takes a deep dive into a consequential regulatory announcement for the diesel engine industry. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin has revealed several major deregulatory proposals as part of the Trump administration’s “Powering the Great American Comeback” initiative. Among the most controversial? A formal reconsideration of the 2009 Endangerment Finding—the scientific and legal foundation that has underpinned greenhouse gas emissions regulations for more than 15 years. Could this mark the end for Tier IV diesel engine standards in tractors, pickups, and over-the-road trucks? The answer is complicated—and the impact could be enormous.
A Field Day to Remember
While many of you might not be familiar with the 2000s rock band “A Day to Remember,” their moniker was front of mind for me last week as I attended A Field Day to Remember in Elizabethtown, Pa., writes Cover Crop Strategies associate editor Mackane Vogel.
Sjoerd Duiker, Penn State University no-till and cover crop researcher and Lisa Blazure of the Stroud Water Research Center speak to the group of attendees at Jim Hershey’s field day in Elizabethtown, Pa. Think inflation drives grain prices? Damian Mason says, “Think again. Here is why corn, soy & wheat don’t follow the same rules as gold — and what really sets the market.”
