A recent blog published by NEXAT featured an interview with Arvinder Jabal, CEO of K-Hart Industries which highlights the combined efforts of K-Hart and NEXAT toward sustainability and efficiency.
Focused on developing machines and systems that improve efficiency, productivity and sustainability on farms, Jabal says the company’s history is characterized by a deep understanding of the challenges farmers face. Jabal explains that K-Hart’s core competencies lie in the development and manufacture of state-of-the-art agricultural machinery, particularly in technology for no-till farming.
“Our vision is to lead agriculture into a sustainable and innovative future. We want to equip farmers with reliable tools that maximize productivity while minimizing environmental impact to make agriculture resilient and sustainable for generations to come,” says Jabal.
In zeroing in on the advantages for farmers worldwide, and why K-Hart decided to specialize in direct seeding, Jabal explained that the company chose to specialize in direct seeding because it aligns with their commitment to sustainable agriculture.
“Direct seeding minimizes soil disturbance, reduces erosion, improves water retention, and enhances soil health over time,” he offered. “It also lowers operational costs, offering farmers a system that is both economically and environmentally beneficial. These advantages are universal, helping farmers worldwide address the growing need for sustainable farming practices while maintaining productivity and profitability.”
Jabal reported that the Gent Undercut system is a key innovation that sets K-Hart apart. Noting that it was originally designed by Tony Gent, the patent holder, the system was developed specifically for true no-till farming. Because K-Hart owns the license rights, Jabal says they ensure that its benefits accrue to farmers while maintaining its integrity.
“This design is ideal for no-till conditions and ensures precise seed placement with minimal soil disturbance and virtually no hairpin formation,” according to Jabal. He added that the features improve germination rates, increase yields and improve soil health by maintaining soil structure. “The license rights for this system ensure that we maintain control over its quality and implementation and allow us to work with trusted partners to expand its reach while protecting its integrity.”
K-Hart first learned of the NEXAT system through its agricultural network and NEXAT’s online presence. Jabal says he and the team were particularly impressed by NEXAT’s innovative approach to rethinking conventional farming methods by combining efficiency, sustainability and innovation in a single system.
“This vision fits perfectly with K-Hart’s mission to support farmers with machines that increase productivity while promoting the long-term sustainability of agriculture,” says Jabal.
In the interview, Jabal was asked if there was a particular moment that set the collaboration between K-Hart and NEXAT in motion.
“The defining moment for us was our first no-till test in Ukraine in September 2024,” says Jabal. “We tested a K-Hart system on a NEXAT platform in a corn field that had been harvested less than 24 hours earlier – with soil completely covered by plant residue. The seamless performance of both systems in these challenging conditions was a turning point. It became clear to us that this collaboration could provide invaluable added value to farmers.”
Looking to the future of agriculture and no-till farming in particular, the companies share common goals and, according to Jabal, share the vision of making agriculture more efficient, sustainable and user-friendly.
“In the field of no-till farming, our common goal is to promote its spread worldwide by offering systems that are reliable, cost-efficient and environmentally friendly. Through the use of state-of-the-art technologies and our focus on soil health, we aim to provide farmers with tools that promote long-term productivity and sustainability,” Jabal explains.
Clarifying the expectations for the partnership over the coming years, and highlighting potential for innovation and growth, Jabal says they see the partnership driving significant innovation by combining K-Hart’s direct seeding expertise with NEXAT’s modular systems.
“The biggest opportunities lie in using precision agriculture, automation, and data-driven solutions to create more efficient and sustainable farming practices. Together, we aim to set new standards for efficiency and sustainability in farming,” he says.
“We plan to further develop direct seeding by continuing to invest in research and development, collaborating with partners like NEXAT, and educating farmers on its long-term benefits,” says Jabal when addressing the interest in direct seeding. “Our focus is on refining systems to be more adaptable, user-friendly, and aligned with evolving agricultural practices. By prioritizing sustainability and efficiency, we aim to make direct seeding a cornerstone of modern farming worldwide.”
For his part, Jabal continues to be committed to communicating with agronomists and farmers – about K-Hart, no-till and his vision with NEXAT.
“K-Hart is committed to supporting farmers with sustainable, innovative and robust solutions for modern agriculture. No-till is not just a method, but a commitment to soil health, productivity and sustainability. Our partnership with NEXAT reflects our shared goal of supporting farmers with cutting-edge technology. Together, we provide agronomists and farmers with machines that enable long-term success.”
