In 1955 Clifford Lund founded Lund Implement after buying the Allis-Chalmers dealership he had been working for when the owner became ill. Through a number of supplier changes, the dealership has remained a mainstay in Madison, and today the second and third generations operate the business.
Chris Lund purchased the dealership from his father, Don, and uncle, Dennis, in 2018 but all three continue to work together. While competitors in the area have been acquired or merged with larger, multi-store operations, Lund Implement has continued to be locally owned and serving multi-generational customers.
“I would say what I enjoy most about the dealership now and when I was growing up, is when you make a connection with a customer, sell them a piece of equipment, whatever it is, and then a year down the road, you see it working in the field and you know they're happy with it. That's probably the most satisfying thing about what I do,” says Chris Lund, president and third generation owner of Lund Implement.
