CONGERVILLE, Ill. — A new custom fabrication shop and Kory Farm Equipment dealership in Congerville, Ill., likely will appeal to farmers and local commercial industry by producing high-quality products at a reasonable cost, say its owners.

Heartland Fabrication was founded by Rod Wiegand and Troy Young about a year ago, said office manager Dona Young, Troy’s wife. Wiegand and Young have more than 45 years combined experience in the custom fabrication field, as they were both formerly employed by steel fabricator Premier Fabrication of Congerville. That company eventually grew too big for smaller projects, she said.

“Both Rod and Troy knew the business extremely well and understood there was a market for smaller custom fabrication jobs here,” she added.

Heartland Fabrication opened May 1 in the former Remington Seed building at 210 W. Lantz St. Congerville, IL 61729. Mower decks, trailer hitches and planter arms are examples of some of the projects Wiegand and Young have recently completed.

Kory Farm Equipment, a former division of Premier Fabrications, manufactures items such as wagons and running gears.

“Premier Fabrications wanted to sell off that part of the business and so Rod and Troy just put two and two together and acquired it,” Dona Young said.

As the business grows, more employees will be added beyond the current three, she said.

“We certainly plan to, but don’t have a definite timetable, but our plan is to grow steadily and as we do, we are anxious to add more help,” she said.
