AEM Gathers Lawmakers on the National Mall to Press for Pro-Manufacturing Policies

This year equipment manufacturers are bringing state-of-the-art equipment to the heart of Washington, D.C., urging policymakers to champion policies that empower America’s equipment manufacturers to do what they do best: invest in their communities, grow their businesses, and hire more Americans.

More than 100 pieces of equipment lined the National Mall, underscoring the industry’s commitment to working with Congress and the Trump administration to create an environment where equipment manufacturers can flourish.

“Equipment manufacturers are committed to working with both parties to help implement a comprehensive manufacturing strategy that will create the predictability and certainty needed for our 1,100 member companies to invest, plan and hire in America,” said Kip Eideberg, senior vice president of government and industry relations. “This starts with securing fair and equitable trade deals, but also includes making the 2017 tax reforms permanent, achieving regulatory clarity and consistency, expediting permitting reforms, and strengthening the manufacturing workforce.”

AEM Manufacturing Express in D.C.

For the first time, during events running May 14-16, the AEM Manufacturing Express visited the National Mall in Washington, D.C. In its first appearance of 2025, the interactive mobile initiative highlighted the 2.3 million men and women who “make America” by helping build, power, and feed the world.

Those passing by the AEM Manufacturing Express learned about the vital role of the equipment manufacturing industry and the ways they can support the industry through AEM’s grassroots initiative, I Make America.

After making 80 stops across 20 states last year, the AEM Manufacturing Express will be spending August in Texas, the heart of the equipment manufacturing industry. Texas has the largest number of equipment manufacturing employees, with the industry supporting approximately 345,000 jobs and adding $49.5 billion to the U.S. GDP.

This year, the tour will be making over 20 stops at manufacturing facilities across the state. At each stop, the tour will engage communities, showcase local manufacturing success stories, and highlight the innovative equipment made in Texas. Tour participants will also get the opportunity to join the I Make America grassroots movement and learn more about how they can support policies that will strengthen the equipment manufacturing industry in Texas and nationwide.
