The Canada West Equipment Dealers Association (CWEDA) Board of Directors are pleased to announce funding to 151 dealer member employees through the Canada West Scholarship Program. The 2014 program will see an allocation of an additional $40,000 in Canada West funds that will be matched by participating dealers.

“We view the sponsoring of employee development as an important investment in our people” stated Cameron Bode, CWEDA President. “We are pleased to offset some of the training costs our members incur. With the number of scholarships awarded this year, it reinforces our association’s commitment to education and the training of our employees.”

CWEDA is pleased to advise that all scholarship requests for mechanics that were submitted will receive some level of funding. In the next weeks, the association office will be contacting participating members to advise of the scholarships that have been approved so that the scholarships can be distributed in a timely manner.

“I would like to once again commend CWEDA for their leadership in educational initiatives,” stated Gail Halderman, Vice President of the Canada Equipment Dealers Foundation (CEDF). “CWEDA has again proven that they are the leader in providing training and employee support to equipment dealers.”

The employee sponsorship program is one of three scholarship programs promoted by Canada West.  Since 2001, Canada West has committed or funded over $1.9 million in western Canada towards scholarships, educational programs, post-secondary educational training and capital funding. Major commitments have included $250,000 to Olds College, $300,000 to Assiniboine Community College and $250,000 to Parkland College.
