RDO Equipment is expanding its equipment, parts and service coverage in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area by building a new, full-service store in the northwest suburb of Dayton. This total solutions store addresses the growing needs of the northern Twin Cities metro area, serving customers in the construction, environmental, roadbuilding, surveying and underground industries.

Construction is underway on the new facility, which is planned to be nearly 45,000 total square feet, making it RDO Equipment’s largest construction-focused store in Minnesota. The store is directly adjacent to Interstate 94 at the 610 interchange, offering a convenient and easily accessible location.

“We’ve been searching for an opportunity to enhance our coverage in the Twin Cities for quite some time,” Chris Cooper, RDO Equipment Co. Chief Operating Officer said. “It’s important for us to invest in a new location to offer greater convenience and add another sales and service touchpoint for customers.”

RDO Equipment currently has stores in Bloomington, Brooklyn Park and two in Burnsville. The Burnsville stores, one each focused on Vermeer equipment, parts and service, and John Deere equipment, parts and service, will remain open and further integrate Topcon technology support to provide customers on the south end of the area with RDO Equipment Co.’s total solutions approach. The new Dayton location will integrate the Brooklyn Park parts store and Bloomington Topcon technology store, offering that same full-service experience in one convenient location for customers on the north side.

“The new facility is allowing us to better meet the business needs of our customers for all three of our major manufacturing partners, Vermeer, Topcon, and John Deere, throughout the metro area” Cooper said.

In addition to business demand, convenience and timeliness are two factors that influenced the location of the new store. According to Kelly Gress, RDO Equipment Co. Vice President, full-service stores on both the south and north ends of the metro are crucial because many customers work across the entire footprint of the Twin Cities area.

“Simply put, we need to be where our customers are working,” Gress added. “This new location increases our customers’ ability to get parts and service in a convenient, timely manner, along with more access to get the equipment they need to complete their work.”

With heavy and compact equipment offerings from top manufacturers like John Deere and Vermeer, the new RDO Equipment — Dayton store is also invested in Topcon technology solutions, as well as parts and service support for all makes and models. With industry-leading brands, a well-populated and diverse rental fleet offering, more than $2 million dollars in parts inventory and a 16-bay service shop, the Dayton store is being designed to provide the best customer experience for all.

The store’s main showroom is set up with separate, dedicated spaces for both John Deere and Vermeer equipment and parts support. At more than 16,000 square feet, the service shop is large enough to accommodate all makes and models of equipment. There will be dedicated service managers for each John Deere and Vermeer equipment, as well as service technicians knowledgeable and certified on each brand. Furthermore, a specialized team devoted to calibration, updates, and repair to Topcon technology will be housed in a separate 1,100-square-foot service area.

Customers will enjoy the familiarity of working with several current RDO Equipment team members who will work at the Dayton store. Additionally, the store will bring new jobs; approximately 50 positions in areas like parts, sales, service and administration will be created by the new store.

Building the Dayton store this year follows an exciting year for RDO Equipment. The company just celebrated 50 years of business in 2018 — 50 years of partnerships, gratitude, and vision in the equipment industry.
