Corn, Soybean Harvests Still Looking for Finish Line

November 15, 2017

Wet weather continues to hamper farmers from getting their corn and soybeans out of the field and into the bin. As of Nov. 12, USDA is reporting that 83% of corn acres and 93% of soybeans had been harvested.

This puts corn behind last year’s pace of 92% on this date, as well as the 5 year average of 91%. On average, the 5 largest corn producing states have harvested 84% of their corn crop, with Minnesota lagging the most with only 79% in the bin.

At 93% harvested, soybean growers are only slightly behind last year’s average for this date, which was 96%. The 5 year average for soybeans harvested as of Nov. 12 is 95%.
