Check out the latest vertical-tillage innovations from the ag industry's leading suppliers:
Yetter Vertical Tillage Attachment (VTA)
Yetter's Vertical Tillage Attachment (VTA) is a multi-purpose solution that can be used in the fall to lightly till soil while sizing and incorporating residue for better planting conditions. Spaced on 6-inch centers, the VTA coulter blades can be matched to achieve the desired amount of tillage and residue sizing. In the spring, it offers a practical way to dry out and warm wet soils, energizing the seedbed for maximum growth and yield potential. The VTA mounts with a universal bracket to chisel plows, soil finishers, and field cultivators, and it can be incorporated with most tillage shanks. It can be operated at 6 to 10 mph.

Great Plains Mfg. Turbo-Max 3500 and 4000
Great Plains Mfg. now offers its innovative Turbo-Max in 35- and 40-foot lengths! Like their smaller counterparts, these new models have two coulter gangs with 7 1/2-inch spacing between each blade. The rear gangs offset the front gangs, splitting blade spacing to 3 3/4 inches, allowing for improved sizing of residue in one pass. Gang angles adjust hydraulically from 0 to 6 degrees, offering greater flexibility to match field conditions. In the fall, run the machine with gangs at an angle to bury more residue. In the spring, keep the gangs straight to create a level, vertically tilled seedbed that is perfect for planting.

HCC Smart-Till
Smart-Till's effectiveness comes from its two phases of tine action — entry, or soil displacement, and fracture, when force is applied. The recommended operating speed is 8 to 10 mph. Tine shaft speed helps produce low torque and creates a "ripping" effect that breaks through subsoil to allow more rapid air and water exchange. Water moves into the subsoil instead of resting in the plow layer, and roots easily penetrate the soil. The soil surface receives only limited surface disruption, allowing for optimum performance from any field. Plus, Smart-Till offers the versatility to adjust the tine angle to suit the application and raise the harrows independent of the rest of the implement.

Case IH True- Tandem 330 Turbo
The Case True-Tandem 330 Turbo is the next generation in vertical-tillage equipment. Engineered to effectively manage crop residue, this unit provides leveling for seedbed preparation. The True-Tandem 330 Turbo also increases productivity by enabling fewer passes and higher ground speeds compared to other tillage equipment, offering unmatched versatility. It can be used in fall or spring to manage residue, control residue size, remove corn root balls and bring residue into contact with the soil to promote breakdown and reduce hairpinning. The True-Tandem 330 Turbo is ideal for no-till or minimal-till operations, or any situation that requires residue management.

AGCO Sunflower 6631 Series
The newly introduced Sunflower 6631-35 and 6631-40 shred and mix tough crop residue to help warm and dry spring soils. The 35- and 40-foot implement widths are built to create a consistent seedbed across the full width. The 22-inch Sunflower-exclusive Saber Blade disc blades are mounted at 7.5-inch spacings. These blades maintain an aggressive cutting edge for longer blade life. The sturdy main frame with 4-by-6-by-3/8-inch stringers provides the weight to cut tough residue in all tillage conditions. The Sunflower-patented Split-Wing frame folds to 13-foot, 6-inch transport height and 15-foot, 4-inch and 17-foot, 9-inch transport widths, respectively. Three finishing-reel options match field conditions to optimize soil mixing and leveling.

Environmental Tillage Systems Soil Warrior
Environmental Tillage Systems Soil Warrior is referred to by advocates as the premier “zone-till” system. Soil Warrior provides targeted seed-zone preparation, while blending fertilizer throughout the root zone and preparing the soil for great seed emergence. The Soil Warrior leaves the majority of the soil naturally mulched and untouched each year. Most no-till and strip-tillage systems rely heavily on knives or shanks. Soil Warrior’s patented rolling cog wheel fractures soil compaction in a narrow zone, providing highly effective, low-impact soil treatment in the plant’s growth zone.

Salford RTS
A true vertical-tillage machine, the RTS uses individually mounted, spring-loaded coulters and a heavy-duty harrow package to resize residue and reduce soil compaction. The coulter vibration on the field surface prepares exceptional seedbeds and improves soil’s air and moisture capacity without disturbing the soil’s overall structure. The RTS has seen many enhancements, including a heavier frame and undercarriage design, as well as a variety of attachments to support fertilizer application and broadcast seeding. The RTS ranges from 60 feet down to 12 feet, making these tools the largest and the smallest vertical-tillage equipment available.

Gates Magnum Coulter Disk
The Gates Coulter Disk is a vertical-tillage tool that gives you maximum versatility by also performing as a conventional disk harrow. It performs in the fall or spring, and in conventional-tillage or no-till operations. That’s because its front and rear disc gangs can be independently adjusted from 0 to 15 degrees. Run them straight for minimal soil disturbance, adjust them to a full 15 degrees to stir up more soil or position them anywhere in between to customize the results to meet your specific needs. Whichever gang angle you choose, the Coulter Disk yields excellent sizing and distribution of residue. Plus, it pulls much easier than traditional discs, so you can run faster while using less fuel.

McFarlane Reel Disk
The McFarlane Reel Disk is a true vertical-tillage machine designed to create a superior seedbed without creating yield-robbing horizontal density layers. Ultra-shallow concave disc blades with adjustable angle easily penetrate and loosen the top 2 to 3 inches of soil and slice residue. The spiral reel then cross-cuts the residue, sizing and mixing it into the soil. The heavy-duty spike harrow and rolling basket leaves a firm, level seedbed, ensuring accurate seed depth that results in even emergence and better yields. The Reel Disk is available in widths from 12 feet, 3 inches to 45 feet, 8 inches and is designed to operate at speeds of 6 to 9 mph.
