Trimble Partners With Great American
Insurance Group to Automate Crop Reporting

Automated Reporting System Designed to Save Time for Farmers, Agents and USDA

LOVELAND, Colo., January 17, 2012 — Trimble announced today a strategic alliance with Great American Insurance Group to help farmers automate their crop insurance reporting under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Federal Crop Insurance Program. The new recordkeeping system makes it possible for Farm Works users to submit their crop insurance records electronically to Great American Insurance Group. The time-saving solution makes it simple for farmers to transfer planting and harvest data directly to the Great American Insurance Group systems from their Farm Works Mapping software.

The announcement was made today at the Trimble Agriculture Reseller Conference.

"Aligning with Trimble provides great value to our crop insurance customers and serves to distinguish us in the marketplace," said Tim Copeland, divisional vice president of Marketing at Great American Insurance Group, Crop Insurance Division. "It will also increase awareness among farmers about how precision agriculture tools can help improve accuracy and efficiency in crop insurance reporting."

In 2011 the USDA Federal Crop Insurance Program, administered by the Risk Management Agency (RMA), began accepting precision agricultural data which meets the specific requirements listed in RMA's Crop Insurance Handbook and/or Loss adjustment Manual. The new reporting system will help farmers more quickly, easily and accurately meet USDA requirements related to acreage, planting and harvest. Geo-referenced data may be collected from the tractor or combine cab with a compatible precision farming display such as the Trimble FmX integrated display or CFX-750 touch screen.

"Farmers increasingly list data management and recordkeeping among their top management concerns," said Erik Arvesen, vice president and general manager for Trimble's Agriculture Division. "As the USDA now allows precision agriculture-based recordkeeping and begins standardizing its recordkeeping requirements, we are very pleased to be among the first to provide a comprehensive crop insurance data solution to Great American Insurance and Trimble customers."

Great American Insurance Group's roots go back to 1872 with the founding of its flagship company, Great American Insurance Company. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the operations of Great American Insurance Group are engaged primarily in property and casualty insurance, focusing on specialty commercial products for businesses, and in the sale of traditional fixed and indexed annuities and a variety of supplemental insurance products such as Medicare supplement.

Trimble Expands the Connected Farm with Online User Portal

Farmers Can Manage Precision Agriculture Data and Monitor Vehicle Performance Through My Connected Farm

LOVELAND, Colo., January 17, 2012 — Trimble introduced My Connected Farm portal, a new Web-based solution for growers and agribusinesses to access and manage mapping applications, precision farming data and vehicle performance and movement. My Connected Farm is password-protected and users can customize information specific to their farming operations.

The announcement was made today at the Trimble Agriculture Reseller Conference.

Access Maps and Precision Ag Data Online

My Connected Farm allows users to sign on and upload field and office data to access, manage, view, and print information and maps collected by precision agriculture hardware such as the Trimble FmX integrated display from any computer connected to the Internet.

The new portal will also be compatible with Office Sync service. Office Sync provides wireless transfer of data between the field and office making it possible to instantly view collected data from Web browsers for timely management decisions.

Highlights of My Connected Farm portal:

  • Display Bing(TM) Maps for background imagery overlaid with current or historical data
  • Build a list of client/farm/field/input names which can be synchronized with a Trimble CFX-750(TM) display or the FmX integrated display
  • View data such as yield, coverage, and other maps with legend
  • Print a map or task report summarizing activities
  • Manage guidance lines from the CFX-750 display or FmX integrated display

Vehicle Manager

My Connected Farm will also serve as the gateway for Vehicle Manager, Trimble's telematics solution. Vehicle Manager provides up-to-date fleet management information, a virtual dashboard of cab monitors, fuel usage, engine reporting, and performance analysis. Managers can also create geo-fences to guard against theft or provide alerts when vehicle operators enter non-farming zones.

"We are excited to introduce an innovative Web-based agricultural mapping solution for growers and agribusinesses who want to manage precision ag data online," said Erik Arvesen, vice president for Trimble's Agriculture Division. "Our solution opens the door for use on many platforms and will provide growers with the convenience of being able to access their data on the Web at any time."
