RSSLaverda and Gallignani Call Time on Agreement

(Feb. 12, 2010) — AGCO’S recent announcement of plans to increase production at its Italian Breganze plant, following the decision to shut its Danish Randers facility, has led Laverda and Gallignani to dissolve their 2005 joint-agreement.
The decision was made by the Laverda owners Argo SpA, AGCO, Laverda shareholders and IG Srl, the holding company of Gallignani. The split ensures that Laverda and AGCO can now concentrate on solely producing combines, including the eagerly-anticipated hybrid, at Breganze.
Gallignani, meanwhile, will still offer its own branded balers in certain markets, but also round balers in Massey Ferguson and Fendt colours as per the company’s agreement with AGCO.
Core business
Mario Scapin, Laverda’s general manager, said: “Anticipating that the markets will be coming out of the crisis that involved them last year, we must concentrate all of our energies on our core business, in an effort to provide an immediate response to the requests of our customers”.
Augusto Callegati Gallignani, managing director of Gallignani SpA, added in saying: “These years of cooperation have made it possible for us to have such a deep level of understanding that even this strategic decision finds us in agreement”.
