Deere Sells Wind Energy Business For $900M

Huron County wind farm will have new owners.

HURON COUNTY, Mich. — A proposed wind farm in Huron County will be getting a new owner.

Deere & Co., the parent company of John Deere, said it will be selling its energy division.

Deere said it will sell all of its farms in 8 states, including Michigan, to energy company Exelon Corp. for $900 million.

Exelon is currently the nation's largest nuclear energy producer.

Deere & Co. said it made the sale of focus on what it does best — farm equipment. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
