Corn Planting Well Ahead of Last Year and 5-Year Average

Planting of the 2010 corn crop is off to a fast start. 
On April 19, the USDA released its weekly crop progress report that showed that planting of the 2010 corn crop, at 19%, is off to a start that is well ahead of last year’s crop (5%) and the average pace over the last 5 years (9%).

USDA reported the condition of the winter wheat crop that 69% of the winter wheat crop is in "good" or "excellent" condition vs. 43% at the same time last year.
