Corn Crop Conditions Remain Better Than Normal; Prices Slip
USDA reported that 73% of the corn crop was in “Good” or “Excellent” condition this week, below last week’s 75%, but above last year’s 72%.
Corn, soybean and wheat futures prices declined over the past week. Corn prices fell 7% and are 11% below year-ago levels. Soybean prices declined 1% and are down 21% year-over-year, while wheat prices declined 3% over the past week and are down 15% year-over-year.

This kind of manipulation of the market futures will finish off the economy in the only place that has a serious impact on survival. Unbelievable. The truth is that every dollar of activity in farming results in 7 of activity in the balance of the economy. Whether it is in expansion or retraction the same rule applies. The USDA is dreaming about the condition of this crop of corn.
