Buhler Industries’ Revenues Rise 22% in 3Q

Buhler Industries, Winnipeg, Manitoba, reported on August 14 that its third-quarter revenues increased to $76.7 million, up 22% compared to the same period for 2008 when revenue came in at $62.9 million.

Sales revenue for the first 9 months of 2009, ended June 30, were $227.1 million, and increase of 56% compared to the first 9 months of 2008.

The manufacturer of high-horsepower tractors and a range of other farm machinery cited strong demand in North America for agricultural products for its continuing strong sales.

Net earnings for the quarter came in at $1.2 million down vs. $4.4 million in the previous year. Earning per share came in at $0.05 compared to $0.17 in the prior year. Net earnings for 9 months increased to $10.3 million or $0.41 per share compared with $8.8 million or $0.35 per share last year.

Looking Forward

"Nine-month sales are just short of our full-year record sales of $232.6 million set in 2002 despite the current economic crisis," said a company spokesman. "Sales of shortline equipment continue to do well, however, a decline in overseas tractor sales is anticipated for the remaining part of the year and as a result, sales are expected to be lower in the fourth quarter. "
